As Halloween approaches, here are some helpful tips to ensure a spooky yet safe trick-or-treating experience for all:

• Plan Your Route: Stick to familiar, well-lit streets in the neighborhood and ensure an adult accompanies younger children.
• Costume Safety: Choose costumes that are visible in the dark by adding reflective tape or glow sticks, and make sure costumes don’t drag to avoid tripping.
  
• Be Mindful of Masks: If wearing a mask, make sure it doesn't obstruct vision. Consider using face paint or makeup instead.
  
• Street Smarts: Stay on sidewalks where possible and always look both ways before crossing streets. Cross at designated crosswalks.
  
• Respect Homes: Only visit homes with the porch lights on and be courteous to your neighbors.
  
• Candy Check: Parents should inspect candy before eating to ensure it's safely sealed and unopened.
  
• Stay Warm & Hydrated: Bring along a jacket and some water to keep comfortable while walking around.
  
• Buddy Up: Encourage older kids to travel in groups for added safety.
